Are humans underpowered?

I am a bit leery of the version that gets all +1s, but the version that gets a feat is decent. Spending that feat on Lucky could always help with dice woes.

Lucky is pretty weak sauce from what I've seen. I'd sooner get one of the saving throw feats.

They seem worthwhile.

I haven't played a 5e character with Lucky yet, so I'm not sure, but 3e and Pathfinder did instill in me a great respect for the power of rerolls. I suppose I'll find out eventually whether they are as useful in this edition.

You roll more dice than anyone in my game, and have thus far proved quite unstoppable.

Vael can't help it that he rolls under 5 ten times in a row. I don't think you can blame that on lucky.

My main point is that when you have luck that bad you're better off just boosting hit points.

Well, Vael was the only one not knocked out on the spot by Calcryx's breath weapon, so there's that.

I will point out that a CR 2 should be a 'very challenging' fight for four 1st level characters. I had 4 PCs of that level, a goblin NPC and an acolyte NPC, and the first attack took three PCs out of the fight and effectively ended the combat. The only conscious PC made the wise choice to surrender, but that's a 'challenge 2'.

Things are a bit rougher in 5e. I will be glad once you guys have a few more levels under your belt.

It should only take us about 8 months to get to 3rd. Depending on how many more small creatures we stop to chat with.

Well, hopefully I've established the goblins as hostile and murderous. They killed Meepo. They nearly killed Kryss. And your new queen demands that you hand the tribe over to her by killing the leader, so...

Maybe less talking for the foreseeable future? But seriously, you guys sort of skipped over half the rooms on the way to the dragon. Which is cool and all unless you get in a fight with a "CR 2".
