Godbound is a d20 game I found being developed, currently on Kickstarter, here.

Its mechanics are loosely based on D&D 1e, but but with very significant differences. The premise of it is that your character is bound to divine Words, fragments of power from the destroyed Made Gods. It's set in a very postapocalyptic world, shattered by the divine war that followed the creation of these artificial deities after the Throne of God was found to be empty. Now the world is split into multiple realms, floating in endless darkness, and the Godbound are the only things that can save it from final dissolution. I enjoyed reading about it, and wouldn't mind playing it; it seems to be a more rules-light version of the same concept behind Mythic Pathfinder or Exalted.

Here is a playable set of beta rules, and here is a much more comprehensive review and example of actual play.

Your first link is down. I'll check this out once I'm on a comp, sounds cool.

Worked for me; must have been only because I backed it. Second was missing too. Fixed both.

Well, this is interesting. I like the concept, I was oddly enough working on the opposite end of this spectrum, tentatively labeled 'Commonpath'. Commonpath was designing 'rangers', 'rogues', 'priests' and other typically PC classed NPCs with NPC class levels, in order to provide a clear distinction between the heroes/villains of the world and the supporting cast.

I'm not sure what at cost printing means, which has kept me from backing anything yet, but it seems that this project is a resounding success with 17 days to go. I might have to give it a whirl.

Pretty neat. I like the generalized weapon rules.

That said, I own enough games that I never play.
