A colossal sized Kong, instead of a Huge-Gargantuan one, probably to get him ready for his upcoming fight with Godzilla.

Less so than trying to make it work in Kong vs Godzilla after you've established a smaller ape.

What we really need is a Donkey Kong movie. Fairly normal sized Kong, but with Colossal-sized personality.

He seems more like a giant chimpanzee than gorilla...

Edited to switch ape to gorilla. I'm not that dumb...

Chimpanzees are apes, Serge. I'm disappointed in you! And besides, it makes sense that he wouldn't be simply an upscaled version of an existing species, but maybe a hybrid of some kind.
