Throwing this out again, because it's still the structure as a whole that I like, with some updates to it.

Organizational Structure

A banner is a division. An order is a department within a division.

Presently Melrov adminsters all three divisions, with the Knot over him. I'd like to eventually put Melrov as the Lord of of the Banner of Morningstar, with others in charge of their own divisions.

The Banner of Morningstar (Melrov)
  • The Order of the Blood - (DeMarcos) Sorcerers, summoners, and other arcane weapons the party is able to recruit. The are under the banner of the army as a whole. These are weapons or tools to be hammered. Think Asha'man. These are battle mages or monsters with lots of SLAs and such.
  • The Order of Flesh** - (Irulen, Grumblejack) Monsters of various kinds, like the dire tiger if we get to messing with it, alchemical / surgical / magical monstrosities created, other monstrous beings recruited, etc. These would be trolls, giants, hydras, golems, and so forth. Anything out of the ordinary.
  • The Order of Blade - (The Pious One, Gerrard) Soldiers of various kinds. There are some sub-groups here (skirmish, scouts, heavy infantry, cavalry, etc) but essentially these are recruited humans that fight, or may fight. Technically the dead fall under here as well, but because of their dispersed command structure (e.g. individual casters) they themselves tend to be widely dispersed unless there is a major operation required.

The Banner of Aegis (Empty)
  • The Order of Custodians -(Ajora Alma Altima?) Jailers, torturers, and protectors of important objects or people. Security services basically. In need of someone to fill the open slot.
  • The Order of Gold - (Posca) Logistics and economics. Handles feeding armies, acquiring new things (including abductions), and any money-making enterprises. Maintains armories and stockpiles of weapons, magical and otherwise. Includes weaker spellcasters as crafters to make low level consumables.
  • The Order of Fidelity - (Kaitlyn Mott) Spies, infiltrators, and thieves. These are the subtler side of the Knot's influence. They handle social manipulation and information gathering, rather than raw offense.

The Banner of the Rod (Empty)
  • The Order of Ministry - (Empty) Lay-clergy, proselytizers, and recruiters. These are the guys that actually go out and try and convince people to join our cause or adopt our faith. They also work closely with the Custodians to help rehabilitate prisoners.
  • The Order of Faith* - (Thea / Empty) Divine casters / witches faithful to Hell. Their role is in actual ceremonies and such, or a combat role. Small combat wing that is separate from the Banner of the Morningstar made up of paladins, inquisitors, and so forth - plus each caster as their own.
  • The Order of Truth- (Schmit) Scholars, wizards, and other prepared casters / researchers / people without combat gifts. These guys help with research, maintain archives, craft magical items, and provide administrative support. They run their own schools, concurrent with the schools of the Order of Ministry.

*This order has a dotted line reporting relationship directly to Puella
**This order has a dotted line reporting relationship directly to the Knot as a whole, and is vested here for practical reasons.

There are also a few things that fall outside of the organizational structure, such as...

Constructs - Like Artephius, that answer directly to Teeg, and are more personal assets. No doubt Teeg in time will develop additional assets / contacts.

Child Soldiers That answer directly to Gaerlan, and are likely to be broken down into three roles. Ideally with an NPC in charge of the whole (Myrtle had been the plan, but now unclear), and one named NPC in each category (perhaps more later).
  • Assassins (Katia)- Think Dottie from Agent Carter. Children brainwashed to be perfect infiltrators and killers. Rogues for now, and eventually assassins.
  • Knights - Direct child soldiers that will become squires, and eventually Gaerlan's knights.
  • Gifted - Casters of various kinds that may arise out of his child soldiers

Ghastenhall Base

In a shocking display of ingratitude to the Cardinal and Thrane's efforts to secure the Nessian Knot a comfortable safe-house, they have elected to hide their minions outside of the city instead. It took quite a bit of doing, and a couple of close calls with Talirean patrols (-1 Secrecy), but all of Belial's Bound are now holed up in a small, abandoned castle a day's ride from the city. Empty since its last heir died supporting the Barcans in Markadian's coup, Melrov and Schmidt are currently directing the Bound's efforts to restore it to habitability without arousing further suspicion. This involves a great deal of digging, and housing many of the troops in hurriedly-excavated underground chambers, expanded from the castle's cavernous basements. Provisioning may become a problem, requiring either an apparently-legitimate supply line, or risky raids of the surrounding countryside. Still, they are safe and hidden for the time being.
