The Weary Grave: Setup and OOC Thread

Sun Oct 06, 2013 7:48 pm

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

It's taken many months but this game is finally underway. As some of you are already aware, Dialexis isn't able to run Weary Grave; he's resumed the mantle of DMing for his RL group and doesn't have time to run two games. Neither of us wanted to see Weary Grave end before it began, however, so I've stepped up to do so in his place. Dialexis leaves a truly enormous pair of shoes to fill as a DM, but I'm excited for the chance to run a Shroudlands game and confident that the awesome selection of players will make it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.

System Pathfinder. Material from all Paizo books off the d20pfsrd/PRD is allowed. Specific material (like Clustered Shots and Antagonize) may be disallowed.

Starting Level 16th. The game will most likely end at 18th level. Due to the difficulty in handing out even XP awards to PCs pursuing separate plotlines and overcoming separate challenges, players will simply be told when to level up.

Stats 25 point buy.

Hit Points Max at 1st level, average the rest.

Traits Two.

Wealth Standard for PCs of your starting level. At 16th, that's 315,000 gp. 20% of your wealth must be spent on consumables (potions, wands, ammo, spell components, etc), things you can't readily use in combat (magic traps to defend your home), or take an action to activate (horn of blasting, crystal ball).

Races Everything from the Core Rulebook and many of the ones from the ARG have a place in the setting. Monstrous templates, such as half-dragon, lich, half-celestial, and so on are also allowed. They can be 'purchased' with a reduction in starting wealth, character level, or some combination of both. The exact cost will vary by PC and ultimately depend on what your final stats look like, as some get more bang out of the templates than others. The current PC roster includes a ghost and vampire with 12th level/108,000 gp starting wealth.

House Rules Covered here.

Can I play, or do you already have players? Thinking some sort of human.

More could probably have been squeezed in, but the DM seems to have vanished from the face of the Internet as of about six months ago. :(

I'm going to play a Phyrexian worshiping monk, if that's ok?
